Mental Health/American Psychological Association
The focus of the Mental Health Initiative for the 2011-2013 program year is to establish a partnership with the American Psychological Association that will align with the Links’ mission and priorities in order to identify, educate and promote awareness of major mental health issues that impact the African American community.
Specific goals include:
1. Provide Eastern Area chapters with information regarding the top mental health issues that impact African Americans.
2. Promote awareness and participation in World Mental Health Day
3. Develop and facilitate workshop for 2013 Eastern Area Conference entitled “Unmasking Sybil” which will focus on topics that include: stigmas and misnomers regarding mental health, diagnosing prevalent mental health issues, and treatment of mental health issues in the African American Community.
