Links at the Legislature

Eastern Area Links, Incorporated is recognized throughout Eastern Area State Capitols as formidable advocates on public policy issues impacting the communities we serve.  We will accomplish this by…

• Advocating for passage of legislation in support of our programmatic priorities
• Increasing the presence of Eastern Area Links, Incorporated among elected / appointed officials
• Establishing / building on current Chapter efforts in the legislative and public policy arena

Goals:

1)       By Spring of 2012, 50% of the states in the Eastern Area will have advocated before their state legislatures for the passage of legislation and / or resolutions relevant to Eastern Area programmatic priorities

2)       By December 2011, one to two [funding] community partners will be identified to assist in the design, implementation and delivery of LATL

3)       By October 2012, 90% of Eastern Area Chapters have designed and launched a GOTV [Get Out The Vote] or Voter Registration Initiative

4)       Launch “Links on Capitol Hill” in 2014 to coincide with the National Assembly in Washington, DC

Meeting (Con Call) Schedule:

Thank you to those who have volunteered your time, energy and expertise to the EA-LATL Committee.  Our inaugural committee con call is scheduled for August 10 @ 6:30 pm (details to follow).  Please mark your calendars accordingly. Subsequent con calls and meetings will be scheduled monthly and as needed and published accordingly.

We are pleased to have representatives from MD, DC, NJ and NY on the committee.  If you are interested in serving, it’s not too late! Let me hear from you soon as we are eager to have all Link Sisters interested in making a sustainable difference in the community be a part of this cutting edge initiative!
