Public Affairs
The objective of the Public Affairs Committee is for members of the Eastern Area to become public policy advocates on issues impacting the African American community, in particular:
- Education
- Health, with a focus on women’s health
- Unemployment
- Economic Recovery
To addresses these issues, the Public Affairs Committee will:
Provide timely information on the identified Eastern Area issues to the chapters with guidelines for advocacy efforts in their community throughout the biennium.
Ensure that 100% of the Eastern Area chapters will have begun public policy advocacy in their communities on the Area identified issues and others affecting their communities.
In conjunction with the Links-at-the-Legislature Committee ensure that 50% of the Eastern Area chapters will have developed position papers and/or delivered testimony on the Area identified issues and others affecting their communities.
Build a network of contacts and partner organizations to collaborate with on impacting the Eastern Area issues.
