Archives and History
The Eastern Area Archives & History Committee stands ready to preserve and maximize our incredible legacy! Our archives and history is the cornerstone of “leveraging the legacy of friendship and service.” They are the elements used for reflection, engagement, and initiation within The Links, Incorporated. Therefore, we must focus our attention on managing and preserving our most vital cultural assets.
With your cooperation, The Eastern Area will highlight our wonderful legacy at both chapter, Area, and National levels.Additionally, we will assist chapters in creatively maximizing their archives to garner new community partners and sponsors for local activities.
Our plan is both simple and ambitious.
#1) We will embark upon the first comprehensive archival assessment of our chapters. Our desire is to have a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of our chapters compliant during our initial reporting process (scheduled to take place from now until May of 2012). Completion of this goal is critical to move forward with our other activities.
#2) We will improve chapter archival management (print materials, electronic records, and artifacts) by distributing guidelines and best practices in records management.
#3) We will increase archival access by leveraging innovative technologies and marketing communications strategies. We plan to launch the first online Eastern Area historical repository along with providing a toolkit on how chapters can utilize archival materials in their educational and fundraising initiatives.
We look forward to working with you in “leveraging the legacy of friendship and service” with our archives and history!
